Picking a college, prom shopping, graduation and saying good-bye are just a few things that are experienced by most high school seniors. Life for a senior in High School is not only exciting, but stressful as well.
It all begins with scoring high on the SAT and ACT exams, then maintaining a strong GPA (Grade Point Average) and participating in extracurricular activities. The most difficult of all is finding the right college and at the right price. The higher your SAT/ACT score and GPA will determine the merit assistance you can receive from the specific colleges/universities. The college search and the pressures of deciding what to study and declare as a major can make one lose sleep.
Many students at this age do not have a clue as to what they want to study and the pressures of senior stresses soon become a begrudging reality. Prom dates, prom suits and pretty prom dresses adds to the anxiety of the school year. It is a busy time of year for High School seniors and for their families.
How do you get through this year stress free? Begin by developing a senior calendar that outlines the entire school year. Input every deadline and check off each as it is complete. Keep in constant contact with the school’s guidance counselor. It is worth speaking with families that have already experienced the senior joys and blues. There are many online scholarship opportunities. Add them to the calendar that you produce. It will make life during this season functional and less stressful!
It is certainly an exciting time of the year. It is important to come together and work as a family to create an atmosphere of success and encouragement for all involved!
