What’s been in my head for months now? Well I’ll tell ya. The single “Don’t Wait” by recording artist Mapei. If you’re wondering who Mapei is then let me put you on game.
Jacqueline Mapei Cummings, known as Mapei, was born in Rhode Island. She grew up in both the States and Sweden. She moved to New York when she was 18, but moved back to Sweden after 3 years. When she moved back to Sweden, she decided to focus on music.
In 2009, she released her first EP, The Cocoa Butter Diaries. Later she started working with the duo, Justice. But, she wasn’t pleased with the project and decided to travel to get inspiration for her music. After a few years of traveling, she found the inspiration she was looking for and in 2013 she released the single, “Don’t Wait”.
I stumbled on Mapei by watching VH1 (I think I was watching Love & Hip Hop Atlanta) and her song, “Don’t Wait” came on. I instantly started to vibe with the smooth groove and slightly poppy tune. Of course VH1 only played a snippet of the song, so I went on Spotify to listen to the full version. Now you can find the single on her debut album, Hey Hey.
